Officials in Aransas County and the Rockport police are looking into the Judge William Adams beating daughter video, reports the Houston Chronicle.
The quite disturbing video of William Adams using a belt to beat his daughter, Hillary Adams, for acquiring music and games on Internet sites that the parents disapproved of, appeared on YouTube. It is dated 2004.
The Hillary Adams beating video has gone viral, with half a million views already. The video was apparently posted by the daughter.
It shows a T-shirted man hitting a teenage girl with a belt and instructing her to "bend the (expletive) over", reports the Chronicle. A woman in the video -- apparently the child's mother -- looks on and screams, "you turn over like a 16-year-old and take it, like a grown woman!" In the video, it was the mother that brought the belt to the man.
Since Judge William Adams is an elected official, no matter which direction the investigation goes, he is likely to suffer consequences for the video. He has admitted he's the man in the video.

The video comes out at a time when the State of Texas is already in hot water for leading the nation in child abuse, as reported by FindLaw's Houston Family Law Blog.
One of the statutes that covers child abuse in Texas is Family Code 261.101(b). It requires teachers, nurses, doctors, day-care employees, employees of a clinic or health care facility that provides reproductive services, juvenile probation officers, and juvenile detention or correctional officers. The aim of the law is to use the community help reduce and eradicate child abuse in Texas.
One could add that a way to reduce child abuse in Texas, though, would be to investigate Judge William Adams in a thorough fashion.
